Levornorgestrel is one of progesterons which stop a fertilised egg from attaching itself to your womb lining.
Composition: Levonorgestrel: 0.75 mg; Excipients q.s 1 tablet

Indication
POSTCARE TABLETS is an emergency contraceptive that can be used after unprotected sex or where a contraceptive method was failed. It is indicated for:
- When did not use any method for preventing pregnancy.
- When the method for preventing pregnancy is unreliable like: the condom tears or is used in the wrong way, the vaginal barrier or contraceptive drug are put in the wrong place, tear or are drawed out…
Contraindications
- Have an allergy to any of the ingredients of this medicine.
- Known or suspected pregnancy.
- Undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding.
- Active thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic disorders.
- Acute liver disease, benign or malignant liver tumors.
- Mammary carcinoma or a history of this condition.
- Jaundice or persistent itching during a previous pregnancy
Precautions
- Be very cautious of patients who have anamnestic asthma, oedema, heart failure, high blood pressure, migraine, epilepsy, diabetic, depression, thrombosis or stroke.
Dosage and administration
- It is better to take the first tablet after unprotected sex (the sooner you take it, the more effective you get) and the second tablet should be taken 12 hours (but not more than 16 hours) after the first. As normal, using 1-2 tablets, but not more than 4 tablets per month
- According to clinical studies, the first tablet should be used within 48 hours but not more than 72 hours after unprotected sex because the effect of drug will be reduced if using later than 48 hours.
- The Postcare tablets tablet can be used at anytime in menstrual cycle.
- If vomiting in 2 hours after taking medicine you must take it again.
Side effects
- Most common is nausea, hemorrhage which happened 2-3 days after using drug, then stopping at once.
- In case, hemorrhage time is extended, you should have a gynaecology test.
- Other adverse effects: dizziness, headache, or getting tired.
Report any side effects to your physician or pharmacist during period of treatment
Drug interaction
- Using with Ampicillin, Rifampicine, Chloramphenicol, Sulphonamide, Tetracyclin, Barbituarte and Phenylutazon may reduce the contraceptive effect of Postcare tablets.
Shelf-life: 24 months from the date of manufacturing.
Storage: Store in a cool and dry place below 28oC, protect from light.
